Man Faces Third Impaired Driving Charge After DWI Stop in Frontenac

John E. LeGrand had previous impaired driving convictions for incidents in 2003 and 1996.

A man faces his third impaired driving charge after Frontenac Police pulled over the driver at Lindbergh Boulevard and Litzsinger Road. His blood-alcohol content was more than three times the legal limit, police reported.

John E. LeGrand, 39, of the 400 block of Chancellor Square in Kirkwood, was charged June 27 with driving while intoxicated a persistent offender, a class D felony.

Frontenac Police said an officer saw that LeGrand’s car was weaving, he failed to maintain a single lane and he was following another car too closely at Lindbergh Boulevard and Litzsinger Road May 19.

LeGrand performed poorly on a sobriety test and refused a preliminary breath test. However, after being arrested, a Breathalyzer indicated LeGrand had a .281 percent blood-alcohol level.

LeGrand has a DWI conviction for a drunk driving stop in 2003, and was convicted of driving with excessive blood-alcohol content for an incident in 1996.

LeGrand posted $750, 10 percent of a $7,500 bond, on Wednesday and was released from St. Louis County jail.
