Maid's Assistant Stole Jewelry from Ladue Home, Police Say

Police said the woman pawned jewelry the same day she cleaned victim's houses.

A woman, who worked as a maid’s assistant, faces a criminal charge for stealing jewelry from a Ladue home.

Kahlie Korte, 24, of Silex, was charged Friday in St. Charles County Circuit Court with felony stealing.

Ladue Police said a woman discovered jewelry missing April 5 from her home in the first block of Clermont Lane. The missing items were a set of diamond earrings and a gold and diamond bracelet valued collectively at $19,340. Earlier that day, her house was cleaned by a regular housekeeping service.

Korte on several occasions had worked as a maid’s assistant with a regular housekeeper, police said.

A Ladue Police said Korte had pawned several pieces of stolen jewelry on the same day she cleaned victims’ houses, according to court documents. The thefts were reported to take place between March 22 and April 5.

Bail was set at $20,000.
