Heat Advisory Continues Through the Weekend

Ladue Police Chief Rich Wooten has been through almost 50 years of the ups and downs in the weather world. He is even worried about his own officers at the moment. "Our guys are wearing protective vests, and that can make them very hot, very quickly. We've had more than one be effected by heat exhaustion in the past," related the chief.

He urges everyone in the community to stay cool and remain calm. He also hopes everyone will keep a close eye on senior citizens and those who might be ailing. "We can't be too cautious," said the chief.

And also, "Don't forget to bring the pets inside. They can be effected by the heat just as much as our residents."

Lieutenant John Amenn of the Ladue Fire Department says everything is quiet at the moment. "We are following closely the National Weather Service reports and keeping a close eye on weather reports from the television stations."

So far, the EMS staff has not had to treat any heat related cases.

The St. Louis area as well as much of the Midwest is under a heat advisory.  Temperatures were good Wednesday morning, but a switch in the atmosphere will bring in a southerly wind and build the heat back into St. Louis.

Highs will be extreme over the next couple of days. Expect temperatures at or above 100 degrees in most areas.  Thursday and Friday could bring record-breaking heat with temperatures around 103 and 104 degrees.

The hot, dry weather will stay around through the weekend.
