Car Crashes Into Deer Creek Coffee

Deer Creek Coffee is doing business as usual, despite a vehicle crashing into the front of the store at approximately 12 p.m., Monday.

A female driver in a vehicle involved in an earlier, separate car accident in front of the store parked her car in a lot next to Deer Creek. Co-owner Marcy Williams, who was in the store at the time, said the driver must have accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of her brakes and ran into the store.

The driver was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries. Williams said a customer who was in the store at the time got out of the way safely.

“I heard the impact from my office,” Williams said. “I figured right away the building had been hit. The important thing is no one in the store was hurt.”

Windows in the front were shattered, and there were scratches in one of the store’s wall, where the car stopped.

Deer Creek was closed briefly while a building inspector made sure the store was safe for customers. Shortly after the accident, patrons were back in the store.

The store is expected to open at its normal hours Tuesday.

“We are still making food and drinks,” Williams said.
