A man broke into a Westwood home and stole firearms and electronics, police said. A 7-Up can helped investigators identify the burglar, according to a court document.

Marcus A. White, 20, of the 1700 block of Exuma Drive in North County, was charged Wednesday with second-degree burglary and felony theft.

Frontenac Police said White forcibly entered the home Oct. 1 and stole firearms and electronics. Police said White left behind a 7-Up can in the home. The can had traceable saliva.

A lab analysis matched DNA sample with White, police said.

Police said White denied being at the house, but could not explain how his saliva came to be on the can.

White was released from jail on his own recognizance Thursday.
