Former Ladue Teacher Mr. Roy Johnson Passes Away at Age 78

Was an adjunct professor at Webster University at the time of his death.

Roy Warren Johnson, 78, Kirkwood, Mo., went to be with the Lord suddenly on May 22, 2012, at Missouri Baptist Home, St. Louis.

He was the son of the late Robert and Ena Johnson and the brother of the late Billy Johnson, Granby. Roy has devoted his professional life to education. He graduated from Granby High School, Drury College, Missouri Univeristy, the Army Language School and did post graduate studies at Seton Hall University. He taught history for 30 years at high schools in Strafford, Republic, Valparaiso, Ind. and Ladue Horton Watkins.

At the time of his death, he had just completed his 22nd year as adjunct professor of computer software applications at Webster University, Webster Groves, Mo.

Roy was a member of several academic and professional fraternities, a veteran of the U.S. Army and an active member and participant of the Kirkwood United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Doris Schnake Johnson; sister-in-law, Lee Ann Johnson Dingman; brother-in-law, L.D. Schnake (Barbara); one niece; three nephews; three great-nieces; two step-great-nephews; three great-nieces; and one uncle, Lee Johnson.

Services will be held at Lakin Funeral Home, Pierce City, on Saturday. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. with services following at 2 p.m.
