Doris Schnuck of Schnucks Grocery Stores Dies

Doris and her late husband Donald O. Schnuck founded Schnucks Markets grocery stores. Although she moved from Ladue, some of her children who still run the grocery store chain, still live there.

Doris Schnuck, wife of the late Donald O. Schnuck, died May 11, 2013, at her home in Clayton.

Together the Schnucks expanded Schnucks Markets, which has grown to include over 100 grocery stores.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Schnuck, 88, had been in failing health recently.

Her children, who still live in Ladue, run the family company now. Quoting from the Post-Dispatch: 

Scott Schuck is chairman of the board and CEO. Todd Schnuck is president and COO. Craig Schnuck is chairman of the executive committee. Mark Schnuck is president of Desco Group, the family's real estate operation. Terry Schnuck and daughter Nancy Diemer are retired from day-to-day operations at the company. Terry, formerly secretary and general counsel, is now in the musical theater business. Nancy Diemer is busy raising her two young sons.
