Thanks for Making SLCL the Busiest Library in Missouri

St. Louis County Library is the busiest library in Missouri! Thanks to our loyal customers for making 2011 a banner year.

St. Louis County Library experienced a banner year in 2011 and it’s thanks to you, our customers! The system circulated over 12 million items—an all time high, making SLCL the busiest library in the state.

Library Director Charles Pace said, “2011 was a year of great change for the St Louis County Library. We made a number of improvements to make sure our customers have a positive experience such as self-check kiosks and the new, expanded Eureka Hills Branch.”

Other highlights from a good year include: over 50 bestselling authors visited the library; two teen centers were opened at the Florissant Valley and Bridgeton Trails branches; a new and improved library website launched; and the library’s eMedia collection doubled (offering over 6,000 titles).

Projects coming soon include the installation of new exterior signs at all locations and the release of a new SLCL mobile app, which will have a number of cool features including a streamlined process for downloading eBooks. Another teen center will open at the Grand Glaize Branch in January, with yet another planned for Oak Bend later in the year.

St. Louisans know the value of a strong library system, and for that we say thank you! Be sure to follow St. Louis County Library on Facebook and Twitter to stay on top of all the latest library news.
