College Sports Camps: Identify the Right Schools to Find the Right Camp

College Sports Camps: Identify the RIGHT Schools to Find the RIGHT Camp

The college summer camp season is fast approaching. Student athletes anxiously await these camps as they provide an opportunity to compete against other athletes, while providing exposure to college coaches.

However, student athletes will not be “discovered" in these camps: remember, these camps are open to anyone that pays for them. These camps are often crowded with hundreds of athletes, meaning they won't get close attention from coaches. Many times, college coaches have a list of the athletes they want to scout prior to the camp. For these reasons, families need to be very selective and proactive when choosing which camps to attend. Otherwise, they can waste a lot of time and money at these camps.

Like college, college sports camps can be very demanding, overwhelming and expensive. It is important to choose a camp that not only matches your athletic profile but also your entire college criteria. After all, why attend a college camp when that school does not fit your entire college profile?

We suggest that you identify 50 schools that fit your entire college profile (athletic, academic and social) prior to attending any sports camp. Once you have identified these schools, then you can identify which camps to attend. And, you should contact the coaches prior to the camps. Make sure a relationship is already established between you and the coach before you go to the camp. You should email the coach with your entire profile, expressing interest in the school. Also, college camps will have coaches from other colleges, assisting with the instruction. It is important to contact these coaches as well. This is your first impression as a player and more importantly, as a person. So if you are not at your best, then this first impression might not be right.

This is very simple … Do Your Homework first and then you can find the right camp to attend. If you need assistance, contact us - this is what we do.
