Forget the Rams 4-0 Pre-season Record

The Rams just finished their first undefeated (4-0) pre-season since 1979.  My best advice is to IGNORE IT.

The last time the Rams went undefeated in pre-season they went to the Super Bowl.  That means nothing.  Look at recent history in the NFC, and NFC West even.  Last year, the San Francisco 49ers went 4-0 in the pre-season and then started the regular season 0-5.

In 2008, the Detroit Lions celebrated a 4-0 undefeated pre-season by completing a defeated regular season with an 0-16 record.  The point is that pre-season is NOT about wins and losses.   There are many examples, but no trend.

The pre-season is about how players perform individually.  It's about why Danario Alexander is on the Rams roster but Mandy Gilyard isn't.  In addition to making more plays last year, Alexander made more noteworthy plays in the pre-season.  

Get caught up in the pre-season, but not for wins and losses.  And certainly don't believe that the pre-season is any sort of precursor of what to expect this Sunday.
