How many of you have been trying to lose weight by what you use to do and it's not working? The unfortunate fact of the matter is that as we get older we do have to adjust our activity and intake to keep up with our declining metabolism. Our Metabolism declines about 2% every decade.
A study from the Harvard School of Public Health and New England Journal of Medicine indicates that adults gain about 1 pound per year because they do not adjust their eating habits. The behavior changes have the biggest impacts. Making regular healthy habits of daily activity and portion control of healthy foods had the best impact on weight loss.
The study stated, that just having one extra handful of chips or one extra glass of wine per day equals about 1 pound of weight gain per year. And the study indicates that even though counting calories and fat are ways to assist in losing weight, adjusting the overall quality of the foods of your diet has a greater impact on weight loss. I am so happy there is a study to reference to make that point!
