The Midwest's Heat Wave Becomes an International Story

Media across the globe are covering this deadly weather.

Yes, it’s hot. The local media, including Patch, have issued warnings and advisories to keep residents safe.

We thought it might be interesting to see what the media outside of our area are saying about this regionwide steam bath. Here are five plus one stories we found interesting:

The BBC’s story describes how the heat wave is affecting various cities and includes examples of what they are doing to cope. The story also includes hints on how to stay cool, as explained by an Arkansas farmer.

A USA Today story focuses on how social media are affected by this heat wave. Apparently, posts about the weather are outpacing the usually-popular posts about Justin Bieber four to one.

In an article in the UK’s Daily Mail, 20 photos are accompanied by stories of how the heat wave is affecting the power grid. The story also explains what’s causing the high temperatures.

Another story in the Daily Mail warns travelers to the USA about the excessive and dangerous temperatures.

In this Reuter's story, the heat wave is blamed for the deaths of over 60 people as well as thousands of cattle. It also predicts another blast of high temperatures starting next week.

In a story by the Associated Press, a St. Louis man was interviewed about working outside in this heat. The story also explains what makes this particular heat dome so unusual.

Are you hearing from concerned friends and family members who live outside of our area wanting to know how you're surviving? What did they tell you they heard about our heat wave?
