Frozen Fun: Eighth Annual Loop Ice Carnival Is Today

The event runs all day long on Delmar Blvd.

The eighth annual Delmar Loop Ice Carnival is Saturday, Jan. 19, on Delmar Blvd. Everyone is welcome.

The event begins at 11 a.m. and weather is expected to be warm for January. Fox2Now Weather predicts temperatures in the low 50s on Satuday. 

There will be several events that run throughout the day. Participants can visit stores in the Loop to find ice cubes for the Ice Cube Give Away. There will be 1,000 cubes with dollar coins in them and 9,000 cubes with chocolate coins.

The schedule of events for the day is as follows:

Collect all 11 temporary tattoos from Loop businesses – then come claim your prize at the Pageant.

The Pageant 11 a.m. Ice Sculptures Live Ice Carving demos with chainsaws by Ice Visions Fitz's 11 a.m. Coin Finder

$1,000 in $1 coins and 9,000 chocolate coins in ice cubes from 11 a.m. ‘til they’re gone. 

Fitz's 11 a.m. Ice Slides for Children Family fun next to Blueberry Hill all day Human Dog Sled Races 16 teams competing for prizes and bragging rights Noon-5 p.m. Putt Putt Pub Crawl

Starts at Cicero’s or The Pageant. Free entry, 11 holes, great prizes, golf attire optional. Awards presented at Cicero’s at 6 p.m.

 

Cicero's 1-4 p.m. Cosmonauts on Ice

Cosmonauts on Ice features two Moonrise Hotel Rooftop vodka sampling stations. 

Moonrise Hotel 1-3 p.m. Synchronized yo-yo freestyles Team MoYo performs synchronized yo-yo freestyles to music at Star Clipper.  Star Clipper
Music Igloo
 DJ’s and video mixing.

While out and about for the Ice Carnival, stop into one of the great small businesses on the Delmar Loop. The Riverfront Times recently named its top 12 restaurants to stop in during the Ice Carnival

They are Chinese Noodle Cafe, Pi Pizzeria, Three Kings Public House, Fork & Stix, Snarf's, Blueberry Hill, Ranoush, Al-Tarboush Deli, Nico, Seoul Taco, U City Grill and Cicero's.
