Chopper Helps Nab Stealing Suspect On The Run

Authorities from Ladue and Rock Hill help bring stealing suspect into custody.

A traffic stop on interstate 64 Thursday afternoon led to a police chase when a suspect tried to run from the scene, but Frontenac Police Chief Tom Becker said the man is now in custody.

Becker said an officer stopped a vehicle heading eastbound on the highway east of Lindbergh Boulevard and that the plates matched those of a vehicle wanted in connection with a felony stealing case in Arnold and a felony shoplifting investigation in Overland.

Becker said the passenger in the car made a run for it, but was tracked down with the help of Metro Air Support and police agencies in Ladue and Rock Hill.

Social media accounts suggested at least one business in the Rock Hill area was on lockdown as this unfolded, but police there referred Patch to Ladue and eventually Frontenac for comment.

Chief Becker said the only person brought into custody was the person who fled the scene, described as a 43 year-old man.
