What Would You Like To See Come to the Proposed Frontenac Crossing at Clayton and Lindbergh?

The mystery of what’s coming next, or at all to the business complex at the northwest corner of Clayton and Lindbergh in Frontenac lingers on.

Though there are large signs on the building at 10307 Clayton Rd., developers have declined to outline any details of pending projects. Lord Partners is listed on the signage along with architect David Mason and Associates.

Kurt Lord, head of Lord Partners indicates the property owner is not ready to talk about any proposed developments at this time. “We want to wait until we have further discussions with the City of Frontenac,” said Lord, declining to be interviewed about any possible projects. “Our client is just not ready to talk,” said Lord.

Frontenac City Administrator Bob Shelton said discussions are ongoing and some proposals are on the table. However, he and other Frontenac officials do not want to enter into public discussions at this time.

The complex, covering nearly a half city block has been vacant for several years. At one time, it was a high-end electronics store, the Electronics Sound Room and was a place where Oriental and Persian rugs were sold at a gallery.

Visually, looking through uncovered windows, the spaces appear to need major renovation. It would take significant construction to get these retail spaces back into useful working space.

The property is difficult to work with at all. Parking is very limited. There is an overflow parking lot on a lower level behind the location, adjacent to the Frontenac Hilton Hotel. Those who park there have to hike up steep steps to reach street level on Clayton Road. Parking out front on Clayton Road is limited to less than 10 spaces, and automobiles would be required to back into traffic lanes on Clayton Road to exit the property.
