Small Business Shout Out: Breeze Blow Dry Bar

Learn more about this Ladue business in this week's Small Business Shout Out.

The following answers were provided by Susannah Danforth, owner of Breeze Blow Dry Bar. If you have a business and want to participate in Patch's Small Business Shout Out you can fill out the form here.

When was the business founded?: "Dec. 1, 2012"

How did your business come to be?: "Breeze was founded by Susannah Danforth, J.D., and Lindsay Bush, two time-crunched, wavy-haired transplants eager to share this popular coastal concept with other St. Louis women. Susannah and Lindsay became hooked on professional blow-outs at blow dry-only bars in their hometowns (Boston and L.A. respectively) and joined forces to open Breeze. Susannah oversees operations and Lindsay oversees marketing. They hired Whitney Rhoads, a 20-year veteran in the beauty industry, as manager/director of business development, and Josh Wagner, formerly of Bumble and bumble NYC, as creative director."

Why did you choose the area you did?: "Ladue is in the heart of our demographic. The affordable indulgence of a professional blow-out appeals to women aged 5-95, especially multi-tasking moms, professionals, socialites, students, volunteers, athletes, philanthropists, and more. For these women, the professional blow-out is no longer an occasional luxury but a weekly necessity! Lester's Plaza is the perfect location with ample parking and easy highway access. Our sunny space is contemporary, with a nod to the Mad Men beauty parlor days.

What kind of services do you offer?: "Breeze offers a luxurious shampoo and a professional blow-out for $35. Clients choose from a menu of eight styles - from stick straight to voluminous curls. Added perks include deep conditioning treatments, scalp massages, and a 15-minute fresh face make-up application. Our Breeze2Go service enables clients to book a Breeze stylist(s) in their home, office or hotel room. Breeze also offers a bridal registry for the entire bridal party. Our plush party room provides the perfect gathering spot for birthday parties, girls' night out and other get-togethers."

What's a fact about your business that most customers probably don't know?: "The Ladue location is our first, flagship store. We plan to open 2-3 additional locations along the Hwy. 40 corridor in the next 18 months to two years."

What do you want your business to be best known for?: "A Breeze blowout is consistently beautiful and long-lasting, thanks to our unique, intensive training program. Designed by our creative director, Josh Wagner, all Breeze stylists must graduate from our 14-20 hour blow dry boot camp before servicing their first client."

What's your most popular product or service?: "The traditional round-brush blow-out appeals to women of all ages and hair types."
