May Brings Plenty of Activity to the Colonial MarketPlace in Ladue

Original Pancake House is open; Cini opens this coming week and Ivy Hill Boutique holds an official opening tonight.

The Colonial MarketPlace in Ladue and part in Clayton is crazy busy.

While workers are feverishly getting construction done, other places are “open for business” or will do so, this coming week or next.

Cini Italian Chow has a store front taking employment applications. While beautiful fixtures are in place, construction on Cini will come down to the wire for a Tuesday, May 7 launch.

“This is our second location. We are on South Grand in the flats area. Think of us as a Chipolte but we are Italian, not Mexican,” said David Clark, their general manager.

The Original Pancake House is swarming with customers, sampling the apple and dutch pancakes while sipping fresh orange juice from their $10,000 ZuMEX processor, purchased directly from Denmark. This is a must see for children who dine at the House.

Dominic Michael hair stylists have been open for two weeks. They are cutting hair for both men and women. They closed their Clayton location, moving to Ladue. Their other location is at 17057 Baxter Rd. in Chesterfield.

Blown Away Dry Bar is snowed under with busy ladies on the go. They are trying to keep up with prom season; Mothers Day and graduations all coming up. They are just crazy busy.

Ivy Hill Boutique is “Bursting with Excitement.” That’s the message on the colorful post card, announcing the official celebration of their grand opening tonight (Friday, May 3).

They will have bubbly and bites and 20 percent off all merchandise, 5-8 p.m.

Others are nearing their construction deadline:

  • Dimvaloo, the line of active Australian sportswear already has a dressed mannequin on display, but there’s plenty of work to be done.
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil is still under construction.
  • Marta’s Boutique is moving over from the Clay Price Center.
  • The St.Louis Women’s Exchange is scheduled to open in early June.
  • Frill is still under construction too.

Kinkos, long-time regular has endured through all the dust and dirt and paving. “Life is good. It has not been bad at all,” said assistant manager Pedro Messan. “Everyone here has been very nice to us,” said the Kinkos’ supervisor.

Each visit back to the Colonial MarketPlace brings a variety of changes and surprises. Everyone is eager to see the construction finish and be able to move onto the next phase of business.
