Health spending accounts for more than 17 percent of our nation’s GDP, which is the measure of all the goods and services the US produces each year. And costs continue to rise. On a national level, this means we’re spending a major chunk of our money that we could be using to solve our country’s many other problems. At the family level, this is money that could go toward mortgages, groceries, and college or retirement funds. At the business level, a company’s health-care costs can threaten its future! And for all that expense, Americans aren’t getting good value from our health care system.
