SmartMouth Triumphs at the Oscars

HOLLYWOOD, CA –  The Guard A Heart Foundation, a non-profit health organization whose mission is the prevention of heart disease, presented three awards at a red-carpet, Pre-Oscars event which was held at the Avalon Hollywood on February 25.

The Heart Health Advocacy Award was presented to St. Louisans, Dr. Marvin Cohen and Dr. Susanne Cohen, SmartMouth’s Chairman and CEO, respectively, for their commitment to health and wellness.  Also honored were Larry King, for his benevolence with the Larry King Cardiac Foundation, and Dr. Louis Ignarro, the 1998 Nobel Prize in Medicine winner, for his research discoveries to improve cardiovascular health and prevent heart disease.

Cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death in the United States, with 1.2 million people suffering from heart attacks every year - resulting in 400,000 lost lives.  Research has shown a correlation between periodontal disease and cardiac disease.   Notably, the American Academy of Periodontology estimates that an alarming 75 percent of Americans suffer from some form of periodontal disease.

SmartMouth™ is committed to educating the public about the importance of good oral hygiene and the dangers of poor oral health.   As a provider of premium, oral care products, SmartMouth supports Guard a Heart’s mission to teach consumers that prevention is the best strategy – for a healthier mouth and a healthier heart.
