LOUIS  (March 22, 2012) -- Shopkeepers and artists are just a few of the Gravois/Benton Park residents who will appear alongside professional actors in a play artfully adapted from William Shakespeare’s The Tempest, titled “The New World,” as part of the inaugural PNC Arts Alive Shakespeare in the Streets scheduled April 27-29.  The event, presented by Shakespeare Festival St. Louis, is underwritten by PNC Arts Alive and the National Endowment for the Arts.

The hour-long show will be performed at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, April 27-28, and at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 29, at the intersection of Cherokee Street and California Avenue in the Benton Park West neighborhood. All three performances are free. For more information, please visit www.shakespearefestivalstlouis.org, or call 314/531-9800.
