Villa Duchesne 2010 Graduate Crowned Veiled Prophet Queen

Miss Eleanor Clark Brennan follows in the footsteps of her mother, Eleanor Hawes Brennan, 1980 VP Queen.

A new “Queen of Love and Beauty” was crown at the 127th annual Veiled Prophet Ball held at the Hyatt Regency St. Louis at The Arch Thursday night and 65 young women were presented marking their formal entrance into society. More than 2,000 friends and family were in attendance.

With much pageantry, the Veiled Prophet crowned his Queen, Miss Eleanor Clark Brennan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Brennan, Jr. of Ladue. Miss Brennan’s mother, Eleanor Hawes Brennan was crowned VP Queen in 1980. Miss Brennan graduated from Villa Duchense in Frontenac in 2010.

Miss Brennan is currently seeking a double major in economics and French at DePauw University. She is proceded by retiring Queen, Laura Hogan Hollo, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David M. Hollo.

In addition, six “Special Maids” were honored: 1st Special Maid, Miss Elizabeth Kelsch Thaman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael E. Thaman Sr. and Mrs. Jerri Thaman. 2nd Special Maid, Miss Emily Thatcher Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gregory Smith. 3rd Special Maid, Miss Ashley Scudder Engler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Curtis Engler. 4th Special Maid, Miss Mary Ogden Hager, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hager II. 5th Special Maid, Miss Caroline Stevens Fryer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin S. Fryer. 6th Special Maid, Miss Hallie Burst Stupp, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John P. Stupp, Jr.               

Each December, the Veiled Prophet Ball is held to introduce young ladies, generally in their sophomore year of college, to the St. Louis Community.

Dating back to 1878, the Veiled Prophet tradition in St. Louis makes significant economic and social welfare contribrutions for the benefit of the community.
