Accomplishment: Tasha earned a perfect score on the ACT® test. She is one of only 23 Missouri students, out of 48,000, who took the ACT in 2010 and received a perfect score.

Key to awesomeness:  Tasha is a Whiz Kid in more than the exam arena. She also shines in the other areas of her busy life which includes sports, music, volunteering and community involvement.

“I’m a Girl Scout and recently I earned the Girl Scout Gold Award® [editor’s note:  the highest award that a Girl Scout aged 14-18 can earn],” Tasha said. “I had to do a project and part of the criteria for the award is that the project has to have a lasting impact in the community. I built a model of Jerusalem to be used as a teaching aide for my leader’s church and instructed the teachers and students about it so they can continue to teach it.”

In addition to scouting, Tasha has been playing the violin since she was five years old. She was in the school orchestra during grades 7—11 and continues to practice with private lessons.

Tasha is also an athlete. “My main sport is swimming. Our team did well in our conference meet and I was eligible to go to the state competition as an alternate,” Tasha said. In fact, swimming is what led her to volunteer with KEEN (Kids Enjoy Exercise Now). “Every other Sunday I work with mentally- and physically-challenged children. We go swimming once a month and play various sports with them the other times.”

One of the exciting benefits of achieving a perfect score on the ACT test is the attention Tasha is receiving from universities. An additional unexpected benefit came in the mail when she found out she was eligible for the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program.

As a pre-med student, Tasha is looking forward to considering various college applications and determining where she’ll end up going to school.

NOTE:  Two schools in Ladue-Frontenac can boast that they have students who achieved perfect ACT test scores: Ladue Horton Watkins and John Burroughs School.
