Pick Five Plus Four in Frontenac and Ladue

A week of new and exciting things to do will tempt area residents.

As the temperature goes up, so do the number of events occurring in the area. This week promises themes for all tastes – literally, if you count chocolate bunnies and crème-filled eggs.

The St. Louis County Library Headquarters, 1640 S. Lindbergh Blvd., showcases four events this week.

Monday, April 18. St. Louis’ popular young adult author, Ridley Pearson, will discuss and sign the latest installment in his popular series, “Kingdom Keepers IV: Power Play,” at 7 p.m. Pudd’nHead Books, 37 S. Old Orchard Ave. will have books available for signing. www.puddnheadbooks.com.

Tuesday, April 19. Critically acclaimed suspense author Philip Kerr will discuss and sign his latest Bernie Gunther mystery, “Field Gray,” at 7 p.m. Barnes & Noble will have books available for purchase and signing. www.barnesandnoble.com

Wednesday, April 20. The headquarters will host Story Time: Love Our Earth for ages 3 to 6. The program will begin at 10 a.m.

Thursday, April 21. The St. Louis County Library Foundation and Pudd’nHead books present a special event with Secret Service agents Gerald Blaine and Clint Hill, authors of “The Kennedy Detail: JFK’s Secret Service Agents Break Their Silence.” For the first time, members of President Kennedy’s Secret Service detail reveal the inside story of the assassination, the weeks and days that led to it and its aftermath. This extraordinary book is an intimate portrait of dedication, courage, and loss. The event begins at 7 p.m. Books will be available for signing and purchase from Pudd’nhead Books.

Plaza Frontenac spotlights two events.

Saturday, April 23. Bissinger’s famous chocolate-covered strawberries will arrive in their Plaza Frontenac store today, so don’t be late. Saturday, April 23.  Neiman Marcus Plaza Frontenac will be presenting David Yurman’s design jewelry collection, Elements of Style, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Shoppers will be able to browse the collection and speak with a David Yurman design specialist. Saturday, April 23. Faith Des Peres Presbyterian Church will hold an Easter egg hunt for kids 5thgrade and younger at 11 a.m. at the old meeting house, 2250 Geyer Rd. The public is invited and should bring an Easter basket. The meeting house is listed on the National Historic Registry and is the oldest structure in Frontenac, dating back to 1833. Saturday, April 23. Grab some bargains at John Burroughs School annual 500-family Potpourri General Sale.
