Patch Picks in Frontenac and Ladue

Kids have a lot to choose from in our area this week.

More activities for the children are on tap for this week. Summer camps and library programs abound, all to keep the kiddies involved and stimulated. Or out of Mom’s hair.

Monday, June 13. Villa Duchesne and Oak Hill School, 801 S. Spoede Rd., are offering week-long day camps during June 13-17 and June 20-24 for boys and girls age 4 to grade 5 as well as enrichment camps for age 4 to grade 12. Monday, June 13. St. Joseph’s Academy, 2307 S. Lindbergh Blvd. will hold the Matheny-Goessling Basketball Camp 2011 through June 15 from 6:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for girls entering the seventh through tenth grades. Fee is $90. The St. Louis County Library, 1640 S. Lindbergh Blvd., continues its summer reading clubs for all ages with fun programs and great prizes for each age group.   • Monday, June 13. “Under the Sea.” Join Ariel at 6:30 p.m. starting with the movie “Ariel’s Beginning,” followed with craft making and a meeting with Ariel and Sebastian. Bring your camera. You will also get a chance to win tickets to the Muny’s production of “The Little Mermaid.” Registration requested. 6:30
  •  Tuesday, June 14. For ages 3 to 6, an evening story time entitled “Fables.” Participants should meet at 7 p.m. in the Children’s Area.
  •  Wednesday, June 15. Story Time, titled “Toys Galore,” begins at 10 a.m. for ages 3 to 6.
  •  Thursday, June 16. Children ages 3 to 6 are invited to dust off their camouflage gear and put on their safari hats for an African Animal Safari. Share fun times with stories, songs, and make a craft to take home. Time: 10 a.m. Registration required. Space is limited.
  •  Friday, June 17 “Sounds Like Science” for ages 5 to 12 begins at 2 p.m. This event includes many experiments demonstrating the amazing properties of sound. Watch as the Mad Scientist creates an indoor storm right before your eyes. Space is limited.
