Patch Picks for July 25-July 31

Pick Picks Five in Frontenac and Ladue

Indoor activities prevail this week in the area. The St. Louis County Library, 1640 S. Lindbergh Blvd., is holding many events that will appeal to all ages. For more information, call 314-994-3300 or visit www.slcl.org

Monday, July 25. SLUCare, the physicians of Saint Louis University, and the St. Louis County Library will present “60-Minute Check-ups” designed to provide information to keep older adults healthy as well as giving resources about health-related issues. Dr. Julie K. Gammack, SLUCare geriatric specialist will give the lecture. The program starts at 2 p.m. at the library headquarters.

Monday, July 25. Bring the family to the St. Louis County Library Headquarters to see the DreamWorks movie, “Madagascar.” The movie is rated PG and starts at 6:30 p.m.

Thursday, July 28.  New York Times bestselling author, Maggie Stiefvater will discuss “Forever,” the third book in her Wolves of Mercy Falls series. Books for signing will be available for purchase from Puddn’Head Books. The event starts at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 6 p.m.

Friday, July 29. Fun for the kiddies.  The St. Louis County Library Foundation Reading Garden Event Series and KETC Channel 9 are presenting a free family concert with PBS Kids’ musical host Mr. Steve, who will share interactive, original songs and stories at 7:00 p.m.  Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. Copies of Mr. Steve’s CDs and DVDs will be available for purchase and signing.

July and August. It is highly unlikely that cooler weather will visit anytime soon. For that reason, the City of Frontenac included in their newsletter tips on hot weather safety from the American Red Cross. Visit www.RedCross.org to see these tips for a safe summer.
