Now it's fall, so grab your shawl and take in some of these area events.

Tuesday, September 27. Head for Saks Fifth Avenue, One Plaza Frontenac, for the release party of St. Louis author Susan McBride's new book, "Little Black Dress."McBride is the author of "The Cougar Club" and Debutante Dropout mysteries. For a $10 donation to benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure St. Louis Affiliate, guests will receive light appetizers and beverages while hearing Susan discuss and read from her book. She will also sign copies of her books, available from Left Bank Books at the event. A portion of sales will also be donated to St. Louis Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Tuesday, September 27. All John Burroughs School parents are welcome to come to the Potpourri Sort to help sift through donations to the 500-family garage sale to be held in April. The “sifting” will be held 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Potpourri sort room at the lower level/west end of the field house, 755 Price Rd. Tuesday, September 27.  The St. Louis County Library Foundation’s Pacesetter Author Series presents founder of Systems Service Enterprises, Inc. (SSE) Susan Elliott for a discussion of her memoir “Across the Divide: Navigating the Digital Revolution as a Woman, Entrepreneur, and CEO.” Across the Divide” tells the story of a woman pioneer who got on the ground floor of the digital revolution and became one of its leaders. The event starts at 7 p.m. at Library Headquarters, 1640 S. Lindbergh Blvd. The program is free and open to the public.
