Patch Picks Five plus One Family Friendly Events for March 25- 27

The first weekend of spring and while the outlook might be a bit chilly, take that in stride and check out some of these events in the surrounding area.

Stomp

If you haven’t seen STOMP, put this on your planner. This explosive, provocative, sophisticated, and unique show appeals to audiences of all ages. The international percussion group has received many awards and rave reviews besides appearing on numerous national television shows. The eight-member troupe uses everything but conventional percussion instruments – matchboxes, wooden poles, brooms, garbage cans, Zippo lighters, hubcaps – to fill the stage with magnificent rhythms.

Family ZooQuest

Part scavenger hunt and part trivia challenge, ZooQuest isn't your typical family outing to the Zoo. The quest consists of Hollywood-themed problems and puzzles requiring you and your family to travel around the Zoo in order to solve each one.

Where/When: St. Louis Zoo, One Government Dr., Saturday, March 2  

Time: 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Fun Fest Community Day

Kids from ages 2 to 12 will experience fun activities through the senses. They will learn what it’s like to be visually impaired through activities such as cooking classes, art and other activities.

Chalkboard to Computers

Celebrate the opening of the exhibition, “Chalkboards to Computers: A Lindbergh School Retrospective.” Enjoy craft activities, dancing, musical performances, and more. Fourth grade students of Lindbergh School District’s Truman Elementary will host. Special guest Fredbird will also appear. The program runs through July 7.

Carnival of the Animals Family Concert

If your children are not quite into classical music, this might be the event that opens up a new world. Composed by Camille Saint-Saëns, the work follows a zoological program complete with lions and elephants and characters with long ears…oh my!  Recommended for ages 5 to 12, the whole family will be giggling at this presentation.

“Cars 2” Agents on a Mission Tour

Disney Pixar’s “Cars 2” adventure comes to the fans with the “Agents on a Mission” tour, showcasing cars modeled after their big-screen likenesses. Visitors can check out the cars Lightning McQueen, Tow Mater, and Fin McMissile and take part in a variety of “Cars 2:-themed activities including a video kiosk, e-photo opportunities, games and giveaways.
