Patch Picks Five in Frontenac and Ladue

Don't look now, but you will have a hard time choosing from these area activities.

Schools are closing in on the final day of classes. Get some adult time in before you’re swamped with swimming lessons, baseball practice and other children activities take up your time.

 Monday, May 16. Plaza Frontenac, 1701 S. Lindbergh Blvd., announces their new store, Omega Watches on the first level in Center Court. Omega is working in cooperation with actor Daniel Craig on a creative initiative in support of ORBIS International and its Flying Eye Hospital in the fight against preventable blindness. A special watch – the Hour Vision Blue – has been created to celebrate the partnership, and OMEGA has guaranteed that at least one million U.S. dollars from its sale will be donated to ORBIS, an organization which delivers eye care to some of the world’s most remote and developing regions. 

Monday, May 16 – Sunday, May 23. All of you gardeners out there, if you don’t have a place to plant your veggies, Faith Des Peres Presbyterian Church, 11155 Clayton Rd., invites their friends and neighbors to join them this growing season their Community Garden. Plots are still available in either a 5’ x 10’ or 10’ x 10’ size. There is a $25 fee per plot to help offset the cost of shared resources and materials. Thursday, May 19. St. Joseph Academy will hold its annual dance concert at 7 p.m. in the theater, 2307 Lindbergh Blvd. The Dance Club along with Dance III and Dance Workshop classes will be performing.  Dance III will perform a modern dance piece choreographed by Artist-in-residence, Dawn Karlovsky who teaches Modern Dance at Washington University and Webster University.   The Dance Concert will include ballet, tap, jazz and modern works choreographed by dance instructor, Nicki Tallent, and selected student choreographers.  Cost for the event is $5.00 314-965-7205. www.stjosephacademy.org.

Friday, May 20. Villa Duchesne and Oak Hill School at 801 S. Spoede Rd.,will hold their golf outing at the Missouri Bluffs Golf Club, 18 Research Park Circle, St. Charles, MO, 63304. Registration opens at 11:30 a.m. followed by lunch, then the 18-hold Tee-off at 1 p.m. A cocktail reception will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. This fundraiser supports school students. Saturday, May 21. St. Louis County Library’s Reading Garden Event Series will present a free concert with Sara Hickman and the Family Time Rocks Band at 7:00 p.m. at Library Headquarters, 1640 S. Lindbergh Blvd. Join us for a family concert event to kick-off the summer. The group will play music from their album “Family Time Rocks! The Universe.” SLCL staff will provide activities for kids prior to the concert. Doors will open at 6 p.m. CDs for signing will be available for purchase at the event.
