Patch Picks Five For August 2-August 7

Beat the heat with these events on tap in Ladue and Frontenac this week.

And the days dwindle down to a precious few. Within three weeks, most schools will be in session, and back-to-school shopping is in full swing. Take a look at some of these events occurring this week. 

Tuesday, Aug. 2, and Thursday, Aug. 4.  The St. Louis County Library, 1640 S. Lindbergh Blvd., will reward the Summer Reading Club for their reading prowess this summer with a special night at the Magic House, 516 S. Kirkwood Rd. Wednesday, Aug. 3 – Friday, Aug. 5  Incoming freshman to St. Joseph’s Academy, 2307 S. Lindbergh Blvd., can meet their fellow freshmen Angels and get a jump-start on their new academic career at the SJA Summer Study Skills Camp. Friday, Aug. 5 – Saturday, Aug. 6 - Looking for big bargains on furniture, sporting goods, books, lawn and garden items, toys and kitchen items?  Shop the Ethical Society of St. Louis Yard Sale on Saturday, August 6, from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m., at the Society, 9001 Clayton Rd.  Early birds wanting first pick can pay $5 and shop on Friday, August 5, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. All proceeds benefit the Ethical Society’s many educational programs.  For more information, visit www.ethicalstl.org or call 314-991-0955.

Saturday, Aug. 6 – Little girls love tea parties, so take your little princess to Pottery Barn Kids at Plaza Frontenac, 1701 S. Lindbergh Blvd., for a Summertime Doll Tea Party at 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. for children four and older. They can dress up and bring their little baby dolls.
