Mother's Day Activities Top This Week's Picks

Our choices for celebrating mom include a trip to the zoo, a tea party, helping the library, fun at The Magic House and a concert.

This week’s Get Out listing includes plenty of Mother’s Day activities along with opportunities to enjoy some of our region’s cultural institutions. While most people know about the annual Art Fair at Laumeier Sculpture Park that occurs each Mother’s Day weekend, we hope you will also check out our picks for things to do this week:

Animal Moms and their Babies
In between all the human-directed Mother’s Day activities this weekend, don’t forget the moms at the zoo. In particular, there are a couple new moms who are celebrating this year: two Grevy’s zebras, a very endangered species, have given birth to two foals and as of a couple weeks ago they’re all on display in the zoo’s Red Rocks area. Asante, a male, was born November 22 and a female, Zuri, was born on January 14. Their respective mothers, Laila and Tiombe, endured 13 months of gestation so they really should be celebrated this Sunday.

Where/When: Saint Louis Zoo, One Government Drive, Red Rocks area;
9 a.m.—5 p.m. daily

Pricing: No admission fee.

More information: Call (314) 781-0900.
