Ladue-Frontenac, Where Did You Go On Your Vacation This Summer?

Helpful Hints for Planning a Trip to the Wonderful World of Disney in Orlando.

Disneyworld is the place that children dream about when they see that magical castle come across their television screen.  The lure and intrigue is so captivating that I admit I was excited when we decided to plan a trip for my daughter’s fifth birthday.  There are so many things to consider when planning your Disney trip:  drive vs. fly, which resort and how long to stay, where to eat, and how many parks to visit.  The luster of planning the trip quickly wore off.

It is important to check Disney’s calendar of events to make sure there are not park closings during the time you plan to go.  in Frontenac recommends: “if you can avoid high-season in the spring and summer and go when there are not scheduled school breaks for instance in October, your trip will be a lot less stressful.”  She also added: “here in St. Louis we tend to forget about Disneyland in California which is a great alternative to those that have already been to Disneyworld in Florida, with the added bonus of a short drive to:  Universal Studios, the Zoo, and Lego Land.”

  • For those with a tight budget staying in a value resort can save a lot of money.
  • The “Fast-Pass”  allows you slide your ticket in a machine if the lines are long, come back when the time frame is near,  and get on the ride—a must have!
  • Dining with the princesses (must be booked well in advance of your trip) is a must for your princess!
  • Enjoy the break from the Magic Kingdom at Epcot.  They offer a variety of venues and a taste of different cultures.
  • Make as many meal reservations as possible ahead of time or else you will be paying $40.00 for four hotdogs and water in the park.

The Disney website was very helpful and ultimately how I planned and booked our trip.  You are able to purchase hotel and meal packages, view the amenities of each resort and location in relation to the parks and purchase fast passes and tickets.

Whether driving or flying, staying off-site or on, the trip to the magic kingdom is one your family will never forget.
