One of the holiest days in the Christian World is upon us. Lent is over and millions of Christians will celebrate the rebirth of Christ Sunday on Easter. The Schnucks Store in the Ladue Crossing has everything to celebrate the holiday meal. Come visit with Sue Easterwood in the flower department; Paul Guittar behind the meat counter; and all the folks who will make this a special day. Eastwood noted that this time last year, it was so warm that bedding …
To sum it up in one word, it would have to be "disappointment" for all the local basketball teams. This was a season of so much promise and no first place hardware to show for it. Of course winning a state title in any sport is a difficult proposition. The St. Joe Angels came the closest, leading then falling behind to lose to the Bruins of Rock Bridge of Columbia in the Class 5 title game over the weekend. Burroughs boys had so much promise, running off the first 13 wins of the season and losing out to Maplewood in the sectionals with just 3 loses on the year. Same goes for the MICDS girls …
Mrs. Fisher Cat from Calico Critters came to Imagination Toys in Ladue to help celebrate the stores first birthday. Saturday was a day of snacks and treats; balloons, a visit with the cat and of course lots of new toys for children to oggle and in some cases, take home. Owner Polly Lett and her well versed staff celebrated in style. Here's a look around the store at the first birthday celebration.
This is just one final look back at the 38th annual girls swim championships at the Rec-Plex in St. Peters. This of course, was a spectacular meet, in particular for Burroughs freshman Maddie Wessell; senior Trey Ross of MICDS and junior Grace Stiegemeyer of St. Joseph's Academy. All three programs return a number of swimmers, assuring they will be competitive next season. The Ladue, Frontenac and Olivette Patches will present the West County Swim Stars in two weeks. Enjoy one more look back at the action in the pool last weekend.
The annual Chili Supper, organized and hosted by the Ladue Parents Association is a big night in February each year in the Ladue School District. Families from all the elementary schools; middle school and high school attend. Many district employees as well enjoy socializing at this event. This year, in addition to all the food and soft drinks; the Ladue-ettes did several routines and the band played a resounding rendition of the school's fight song. The dads did all the barbecuing for the annual event. Once the plates and cups were all stashed away, the revelers moved over to Nielson Gym to …

That ends a 5 game spell held by the Wildcats over the Rams. The Ladue girls won the first ever Ritenour tournament, defeating the host school for the title, and ending the Huskies 8-game win streak. St. Joe came close again. In the finals of the Visitation Holiday Festival…

Burroughs won the game 28-6, and will play in the MSHSAA Show-Me Bowl state championship game on Friday. Here's just a handful of the terrific photos from the game sent to Patch by our friend and colleague, John Burroughs science teacher Margaret Bahe. Patch will have a full round of championship photos from the game at the Dome Friday with Maryville for the Class 2 Show Me Bowl title game.
Saturday was a day of satisfying victories for the different Burroughs sports teams. The football team demolished Clayton 56-0. Field hockey won over Clayton 1-0 and the soccer team beat the defending state champs 1-0. All of the wins were on the Bombers campus Saturday. Joe Renner fired a 30 yard shot that trickled by Priory goal keeper Tristan Helmuth. Otherwise, Helmuth played a sensational game, turning away a number of strong shots. Up front, the Bombers got strong play from Ty Trezecki, Stephen McMillian and Ryan Keeney. They kept the pressure up in a game, dominated by strong midfield …
The season did not end the way the St. Joseph's Academy Angels softball team had planned it. They ran into a hornets nest Saturday in regional competition at C&H  Ballpark in St. Peter's, losing to Francis Howell of St. Charles, 10-0. Howell with a 20-8 record advances to the state quarterfinals with the victory. The St. Joe season comes to a halt at 14-9. It was still a good year for JP Cummings team with a variety of bright spots. The 13-3 win the previous game over Hazelwood West in the sectional championship was a big one. The Angel bats went comatose at the wrong moment. They managed …

In a tradition that goes back many years, the Ladue Horton Watkins High School school year gets going with the Blue & White night. Nearly half the students are involved in one of the many sports programs at the high school. On Tuesday night, the teams were all introduced at a raucous assembly. The pep band performed as well as the Laduette dancers and the cheer leaders and everyone had a good time. Outside the parents association gave away blue snow cones, the Dads Club had their usual barbeque stand and the Laduette boosters sold t-shirts. Meanwhile Patch.com signed up new readers for the …
