Part 1: Remembering America's Guest, Jim Goessling

Nearly 1,000 people paid their respects to the late Jim Goessling Oct. 27 at DeSmet Jesuit High School where a Mass of Celebration was held in the gymanium where he starred as a basketball player 40 years ago helping lead the school to the 1973 Missouri Class L State Championship.

Jim died Oct. 21 after a three-year fight against cancer.

Teammate Jim Kennedy and Coach Rich Grawer were just two of the dignitaries who agreed to reminisce about Jim with video tributes.

More tributes will be posted in upcoming days including one from Hockey Hall of Famer Bernie Federko.

Scott Simon is Executive Producer of ProVergent Media and covered the Mass of Celebration for Jim Goessling. He is 1974 graduate of DeSmet Jesuit High School and was Jim's Sigma Pi fraternity brother

Scott, beautifully done and befitting a true DeSmet champion for life.

I am home, confined to quarters, recovering from total reconstructive foot surgery. Otherwise, I would have been there too.
