Jay Leno welcomes a Ladue Horton Watkins High School graduate to his NBC late night show.
The last time he appeared as a guest on The Tonight Show, Justin Willman performed a magic trick that involved a cup of soda over the head of Oscar nominee Hugh Jackman in December. Now, just a few months later, Willman, host of Cupcake Wars on the Food Network as well as a touring magician/entertainer with a thing for the sleight of hand, will be back on the program Wednesday. He's set to appear with actress/singer Kristin Chenoweth and singer Josh Groban. Willman graduated from Ladue Horton Watkins High School in 1998 and last fall was recognized as a member of the 2012 Class of Distinguished Alumni. The Tonight Show airs on KSDK-TV (NBC) at 11:35 p.m.

The Waiting Room Mark Glass, Patch blogger: *** Anyone who claims the United States’ healthcare system is OK probably has employer-paid insurance, and a primary-care doc on speed dial. Unfortunately, millions have less-to-no coverage and, therefore, little access to needed services. For an appalling number of our compatriots, emergency rooms are their only recourse, leading to huge crowds and long waits in those facilities. This matter-of-fact documentary …

Student-written Cappies review: Mary Institute County Day School’s production of "Into the Woods" is a triumph for the school.
By Kristianna Pirrie of Pattonville High School Life has unexpected turns and thickets and valleys and clouds that we must overcome. We journey into the woods of our lives and learn about one another and what our place is in the world. It is filled with happy endings, sad goodbyes, greetings and farewells, and unexpected friendships that last forever. Stephen Sondheim decided to illustrate this concept in his brilliant adaption of fairy tales: "Into the Woods." On a starry night in March, Mary Institute & County Day School has decided to bring that illustration to life in their 2013 production of "Into the Woods." With music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine, this classic fable of intertwining fairytales debuted in …

The Incredible Burt Wonderstone Mark Glass, Patch blogger: Steve Carell stars in this almost-funny-enough comedy as a headlining Las Vegas magician who has lost his way. We see how he and his partner (Steve Buscemi) bonded as nerdy children in 1982, glomming onto magic tricks as their own Zenlike path to enlightenment... or at least to the end of being ostracized and bullied by the other kids. Fast-forward to the present. They’ve been doing the same glitzy…

Oz the Great and Powerful Mark Glass, Patch blogger: **½ This overlong prequel to the classic Wizard of Oz offers much to admire, but more to regret. Its new screenplay gives us the backstory on how the Wizard wound up there before Dorothy blew into town for her famous adventure. With the resources of the Disney empire and Sam Raimi at the helm, one might expect another fantasy for the ages. One would be severely disappointed. James Franco stars as Oz, a …

Jack the Giant Slayer Mark Glass, Patch blogger: ** Here’s yet another fairy tale stretched into a somewhat more adult action-adventure flick following what Hollywood has done lately to Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White, Hansel & Gretel, and perhaps a couple of others. These stem from a couple of irresistible temptations - the ease of creating fanciful worlds and creatures with today’s computer graphics, and the perceived box-office advantage of offering…

Snitch Mark Glass, Patch blogger: ** Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson tries his hand at more realistic dramatic fare in this supposedly fact-inspired tale of a father trying to save his son from a long prison stretch on a shaky rap as a drug dealer. The kid is caught with a bag of pills. He’s been set up by his pal, who made him the fall guy when he was busted. All this one needs to do is find someone else to finger, or face a ridiculously harsh 10-year minimum …
