You Know It's The Holidays When...
Sure signs the holidays are upon us in St. Louis
When it comes to the holiday season, it seems to creep up on you not slowly but all at once with a big bang. There are a few signs that are so huge, they can’t be missed, and then there are the smaller details, which you would never notice unless you took the time to actually pay attention. I have compiled a list of everything that makes the holidays the holidays.
When Starbucks gets their red cups. Mid-November I find myself cheerful because the red cups are out at Starbucks, and I know that can only mean one thing: the holidays are around the corner. The peppermint hot chocolates seal the deal and have me thinking about sleigh rides and mistletoe.
Santa moves in. Every mall has one, and no matter what your
religion, it’s fun as a kid to sit on his lap and tell him all of the presents
you want. So take a trip down to your local mall and begin making your
Shopping madness. Black Friday is the start of it all. Atually, since Black Friday usually begins before Friday, I like to think of the madness happening on “Gray Thursday” aka Thanksgiving. It doesn’t matter what you call it, though. We all know of (or are) the hectic shoppers looking
around for the best deal. If you’re like me, this shopping madness is like a
warm blanket to comfort you by the fire.
In St. Louis:
Winter Wonderland comes to town. Yes, the lights are officially up in Tilles Park on McKnight road. Whether you snuggle up on a carriage ride or listen to holiday music while you drive through the park, it is the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit.
You have a craving for some Crown Candy Kitchen. A St. Louis
fave, if I do say so myself. Every year around this time I find myself in the
mood for a milkshake, despite the freezing cold weather outside.
You don’t feel like doing work. This may be a global thing, but all I know is that everyone is exhausted and ready for the holidays. I say, it’s ok to relax! It’s been a long year, and this exhaustion is just a little reminder that the year is almost over, and then it’s off to 2012! Start thinking of your resolutions!
