Third DWI Charge Goes to Man Passed Out Behind Wheel at Schnucks
Ladue Police found the man in the grocery store parking lot at the wheel with the engine running.
Jeremiah Maples, 25, of St. Louis, was charged with DWI as a persistent offender. It was his third DWI charge since 2005. He pleaded guilty to one of the charges last August.
Ladue Police said officers woke Maples up. The officers said his eyes were bloodshot and water, he slurred his speech and could not stand without assistance. He was unable to perform a sobriety field test and refused a breathalyzer test.
Police obtained a search warrant to take a breathalyzer but did not release the results.
Maples is being held in St. Louis County jail in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
He pleaded guilty to DWI Aug. 7 for an incident that occurred April 17, 2010. Maples also was convicted of a DWI on Jan. 3, 2008 for an incident on Dec. 8, 2005.
