Two of the most-loved sculptures on campus were created by the lte Bob Cassilly - the Communisaurus and the Oak Tree sculpture. The Oak Tree sculpture in the Community Center was made from the School's Bicentennial Oak in 1982. The following year, Cassilly designed and built the Communisaurus located on the playground just outside the Early Childhood Center.

Cassily was a graduate of Vianney High School in Kirkwood and became the founder and inspiration for the City Museum in downtown St. Louis.

He died in a tragic bulldozer accident sometime over the weekend at his latest project under construction, Cementland in North St. Louis.

His works will leave a remembrance for the children and staff at Community School in Ladue.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Bob Cassilly will be conducted this Saturday, 2 p.m. at the Sheldon Concert Hall, 3648 Washington Blvd. Casual, colorful and light dress is encouraged. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cardinal Glennon Hospital for Children and St. Louis Children's Hospital.
