Kids' summer days are numbered, and area stores have already lined their aisles with pencils, markers, notebooks and binders. Most schools have already posted their supply lists. The indicators are clear: It's back-to-school season.
In Ladue, head to Office Max for your school supplies. You can find everything from three-hole punches ($9.49 and up) and ministaplers ($2.49 and up) to combination locks ($5.10 and up) and graphing calculators ($129.99).
There are plenty of places outside of Ladue to stock up on your needs as well.
In Creve Coeur, Bradburn's Parent Teacher Store has a great selection of items, from school supplies to study aides. For the school supplies, Bradburn's has a huge stock of Crayola markers, crayons and colored pencils, including washable markers for $4.69. The store also has Elmer's washable glue ($1.75) and glue sticks ($1.99 each).
In Brentwood, check out Target whose large "Back to School" section is in the rear of the store. Once there, it has everything from Jansport backpacks ($29.99 and up) and animal-shaped lunch bags ($13.99) to the toiletry essentials some teachers require to stock their classrooms (facial tissue, hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes). Target also has standard supplies such as pens, notebooks and pencil pouches priced at $1 or less.
If your older daughter is in need of some fun locker decorations and storage, head to Imagination Toys, which has the line of "Locker Looks" products ($7-20).
If you're in need of a few staples for your kids' wardrobes, head to Old Navy, which is holding a huge sale through August 4 on school uniform components including khakis ($12 and up) and polo shirts ($5 and up).
