State Senate Recount Complete; Lamping Still Ahead

With the county recount complete, the Secretary of State's office must now certify the results

The recount surrounding the 24th State Senate district recount in the race between Republican John Lamping and Barbara Fraser has been completed by the St. Louis County Board of Elections. A spokesperson tells Ladue-Frontenac Patch the ballots were recounted on Monday and that Lamping retained a lead for the seat, which includes all of Ladue.

On election day, Lamping won by a margin of 133 votes. The recount showed an even closer margin (126), which if it is upheld and certified by the Missouri Secretary of State's office, would mean the race would be historic. A spokeswoman for the Secretary of State's office said at the time the recount was announced that no Missouri State Senate recount had resulted in a difference of more than six votes. The Lamping-Fraser difference would be seven votes. By law, the state must certify these recount results by Dec. 22.
