Readers' Vote 2012: What’s Your Favorite Beauty Salon?

Vote now for best place in St. Louis to have a haircut and get pampered.

Beauty salons are not just places to have one’s hair cut.

Often, they become meccas of social gathering and relaxation. Some may attest to the fact great political, social and philosophical conversations take place while the stylist clips hair away.

After all, the very word salon, in France, was synonym to a social gathering where participants pondered about subjects such as religion and politics.

In essence, we know our readers most have a especial, intimate place that is their favorite to get their hair cut. Or who knows, perhaps your favorite one is a quick and inexpensive one.

Either way, we value your opinion, which is why we are asking you to vote for your favorite salon in the St. Louis metropolitan area.

Just vote in our poll below. The voting period will occur from today until Aug. 17 at midnight. Winners will be announced on Aug. 24.

Salon KJ in Webster Groves. The owner, Julie Patten, has been doing great things to my hair for nearly 10 years now! Long or short, and her talent with color is phenomenal!

Thank you for your question, Elizabeth. Patch sought nominations from readers a few weeks back and the ones up there are all of the ones that were nominated during our nomination period, which closed July 9. Here is our nomination article: http://townandcountry-manchester.patch.com/articles/nominate-your-favorite-business-for-a-patch-readers-choice-award-8a43dd02

I absolutely love Nu-Image on Gravois!!! I have never liked beauty parlors, but in Nu-image I have found a place where I feel completely welcome and where the prices fit my budget. (They are currently running a $7.99 haircuts special. The owner calls everyone "Beauty Queen" and that is exactly how I feel when I am there. Angel does wonderful manicures and pedicures, Annie is a match with color.
And you just can't match the cutting skill of Rosetta. Try it, you will love it. Dori

This and your other similar contests need a place for "other," where readers can add the name of their favorite that is not on your list. While I appreciate your explanation above of the nominating process, not everyone reads Patch every day, or sees every article. Allowing folks to "nominate from the floor" lets newcomers join in the game.

My fave hair shop in Maplewood is Yokley's. Owner Danny Yokley is a fine businessman and fantastic hair stylist. And his staff are all profesional and friendly. How many of those on your list are minority-owned establishments? I hope you will keep the rich diversity of each community in mind for any future such contests.
