Patch MVP Week 12: Call For Candidates In Another Great Week for Local Sports
With the winter sports season quickly approaching, fans are running out of chances to make sure their favorite fall student-athletes get a shot at being our MVP Athlete of the Week.

Once again the time has come for Patch readers to nominate their favorite Ladue-Frontenac-Olivette area student-athlete for the Patch MVP of the Week award.
We've gotten some great suggestions in the past, and we're looking for more, in what could be the final week of the fall sports season. Many of the fall sports have completed their seasons, with the field hockey and cross country state championships last weekend.
That just leaves football and soccer left, before everything goes indoors for basketball, wrestling, and all the other winter sports seasons.
Our quick list of possible Week 12 Patch MVP "Athlete of the Week" candidates are:
- Chris Wetzel, John Burroughs soccer. The Bombers' junior netminder registered his 11th and 12th shutouts of the season last week, as Burroughs won twice to claim the Class 1 District 3 championship. JBS will play perennial power Trinity Catholic in the state sectionals on Tuesday.
- Amos Bartelsmeyer, MICDS cross country. The dynamic senior did it again on Saturday, coming from behind -- this time way behind -- to win the Class 3 individual state championship on a tough, chilly course in Jefferson City.
- Anna Reichert, St. Joseph's volleyball. The Angels' senior libero was one of the top defensive players in the area this season, ranking among the area top 10 and leading the MWAA White Conference with 446 digs and a 6.8 digs/game average.
- Eric Stuber, Ladue soccer. The Rams' junior goalkeeper made two dynamite saves in the penalty kick round to lead Ladue to a Class 2 District 5 championship win last Thursday against the archrival Clayton Greyhounds.
- Hannah Dienes, Villa Duchesne cross country. The Saints' phenomenal little freshman came in eighth place, and had the best time of any St. Louis-area runner, in Saturday's Class 3 state championship meet in Jefferson City, helping Villa to a fourth-place team finish overall.
