This is week No. 7 of the winter season for MVP. And again, there is a bushel crop of starts to chose from. Vote for your favorite MVP, and that winner with biography will be presented over the weekend.
Erin Nelson, senior, St. Joseph’s Academy basketball. This rugged forward, averaging 14.3 points per game has signed with Saint Louis U. and is the heart and soul of a 14-3 team. St. Joe hosts 19-0 Incarnate Word Academy on Saturday.
Cornell Johnson, junior, Ladue High basketball. Some say, he’s the best point guard in St. Louis. He averages 8.5 dishes per game, and the Rams, winners of the CBC tournament were 15-4 headed to a showdown with Whitfield Saturday.
Trey Ross, MICDS swimming. This talented swimmer on a solid team has the 9th best butterfly time in the Metro in 1:01.6. State swim finals are in two weeks.
Grace Stiegemeyer, St. Joseph’s Academy swimming. She has some of the top times in the Metro, including third in the 200 free: 1:57.78, and 4th in the 500 free, 5:14.17. She was on the state championship 400 meter relay last year.
Matt Myer, MICDS ice hockey. Area leader in scoring with 24 goals and 3 hat tricks this season so far.
