MVP, Week No. 6--Time to Nominate

All kind of track stars highlight the slate this week.

 

Week No. 6 was very productive for area athletes. District competition is underway in a variety of sports.

Here’s a suggested list of MVPs for this week:

Annalise Wagner, sophomore, track and field, John Burroughs: First in district track in the 800, 1600 meter runs, and ran on the first-place 4 X 800 meter relay.

Ezekiel Elliott, junior, track and field, John Burroughs: First in the 100 yard dash, first in the 110 high and 300 intermediate hurdles and ran in the 4 X 100 meter relay.

Amos Bartelsmeyer, junior, MICDS track and field: First in the district meet in the 800, 1600 meter runs and ran on the 4 X 800 meter relay. His time of 1:54.79 in the 800 meters is a new MICDS school record.

Jehu Chesson, senior, Ladue high track and field: At districts, Chesson won the 100 meter dash and 300 meter hurdles and first on the 4 X 800 meter relay and second in the 110 high hurdles.

Hanna Benben, senior, Villa Duchesne soccer: The Saints are 12-5-2, the Metro conference champs. Benben doubles as a goalkeeper 1.07 average) and has scored 10 goals, 8 assists, 38 points as an attacker.

Nathan Adams, senior, John Burroughs baseball: Hitting .571 on a 13-9 team. Going to Yale and has 26 runs, 23 hits and 11 RBIs.

Lex Kaplan, senior, Ladue baseball: The Rams, Suburban East champs are 18-7. Kaplan has 37 runs, 37 hits, 8 home runs and 38 RBIs.

Hayley Pryor, senior, MICDS track and field: She came through again winning the district pole vault title at 11-0. Her personal best is 11-3, the top mark in the state of Missouri and a strong challenger to win state in two weeks.

Nominations are in order through 5 p.m. Tuesday. Any athlete can be placed in nomination by any Patch reader. Voting starts Wednesday and goes until 5 p.m. Thursday, and the winner will be announced Saturday.
