We’re midway through the fall prep season and for softball in particular, the playoffs are just around the corner. Some key tennis matches, soccer games, football showdowns just around the corner. This is your opportunity to nominate your favorite athlete for MVP this week. This nomination can be made by anyone from any school and any sport.
Time to put those nominations in order:
Here’s a suggested start from the Ladue-Frontenac-Olivette Patch:
Enzo Chen, Ladue swimming. Nominated by his coach Corey Miller, Chen just qualified for the state meet by beating his personal best in the breast stroke by 1.5 seconds.
Kirk Smith, John Burroughs Cross Country. First in Class 3 of all runners at the Hancock Invitational this weekend with a time of 16:26.58. A true contender now for the state meet in November.
Zeke Elliott, John Burroughs football. Six TDs in the demolition of rival MICDS 55-7. Two more of his TDs were called back because of penalties. Area leader with 23 TDs this fall.
Elisa Marker, Villa Duchesne cross country. Second at the Hancock Invitational in Class 4 with a brilliant time of 19:45.19. Just a sophomore.
Matthew Hooper, Ladue football. Passed for two TDs and ran for a third in Ladue’s 42-14 Home Coming win over Normandy.
Claire Sauer, St. Joseph’s Academy field hockey. Nominated by her coach Linda Potter, she has scored 7 goals counting the last game on the schedule and the games played in a Chicago tournament. She has 10 goals, 2 assists and 6 game winning goals this season.
Eric Stuber, Ladue soccer. One of the top goal keepers in the area, he is near the top of the defensive charts with 5 recorded shutouts this season.
Add your own nominees from Ladue, Villa Duchesne, MICDS, John Burroughs or St. Joe in the comments section. Voting starts Wednesday morning and concludes at 5 p.m. Thursday.
