Ladue's Joan Moberly Edwards Passes Away at Age 81
Wife of Benjamin Edwards, III.
Joan Moberly Edwards, 81, of Ladue, died in the presence of her beloved children on Saturday, May 5, 2012.
She was born May 9, 1930 in St. Louis to Besse Roe and Ralph Moon Moberly. She attended Ferguson schools, graduated from Ward Belmont College in Nashville, TN, and married her beloved husband, Benjamin F Edwards III, in June 1953. They had been married almost 56 years when he predeceased her in 2009.
Joan loved life and cherished her many friends from St. Louis, the Gatesworth, the A.G. Edwards family, and all over the U.S. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, her charitable heart, her fun sense of humor, her lavish generosity, her hand-written notes, her pig collection, and her rubber chicken purse. She was a gracious hostess, a thoughtful friend, a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a doting grandmother and great-grandmother.
She believed in Jesus Christ as her Savior, and was a member of the Church of St. Michael and St. George. She loved St. Louis and helping those in need; over the years she volunteered with St. Louis Children's Hospital, Zoofari, Missouri Historical Society, and St. Louis Symphony, among others.
She is survived by her children: Scott Edwards (Mary) of St. Louis, Benjamin IV "Tad" Edwards (Catherine) of St. Louis, Pamela Bunn (Lee) of Raleigh, and Susan Medart (Michael) of St. Louis; and by her 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grands: Julie Seyer (Chris) with Henry and Louis, Brett Edwards (Kristen) with Olivia, Becca Edwards, Hadley Edwards, Benjamin Edwards V, Guthrie Bunn (Jill) with Cohen and Presley, Riley Bunn (Diane), Macon Bunn, Griffin Medart, Mason Medart, and Hayden Medart. She is also survived by her brother, Dr. Ralph Moberly, Jr, of Honolulu, HI.
Her family is grateful for Harriet Jackson, who lovingly cared for 'Mrs. E' for over a year with her team of Rhonda Wilson and the girls.
The family will receive friends today from 3:00-7:00 at the Bogey Club, 9266 Clayton Rd, Ladue. A memorial service will be held Monday, May 14 at 10:00 AM at Graham Chapel, Washington University, 6445 Forsyth Blvd, St. Louis. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to St. Louis Children's Hospital, 1 Children's Plaza, St. Louis, MO 63110, stlouischildrens.org; or to Sunshine Ministries, PO Box 66880, St. Louis, MO 63166, sunshineministries.org.
