Grieving Priory School Community Coming Together

KSDK reports special programs are being planned to help students and others impacted by the death of Brandon Hsueh.

According to KSDK-TV, Brandon Hsueh, the 13 year-old Priory School student who died Friday following a car accident during a Wednesday cross-country training exercise, will be remembered in a pair of programs at the school this week and next.

In a statement from the school's Headmaster, Father Michael Brunner told the station that a Sunday event with grief counselors would offer help to students and parents, and that an all school mass next Friday will be a "Requiem Mass for Brandon."

Funeral arrangements were being made through Lupton Chapel and were not available late Friday.

KSDK also reported that off-campus running for Hsueh's age group has been suspended.

It is not uncommon to see athletes from Creve Coeur area high schools running off-campus along New Ballas Road, Lindbergh, and other areas. Creve Coeur Patch checked with school administrators at Whitfield, De Smet, and Chaminade to see if policies there had been reconsidered in the wake of the accident. School representatives have not indicated if there have been any changes yet and when asked Friday if the subject had come up yet at a broader level, Creve Coeur Police said it was a possibility in the future at some point.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch further investigated the issue by talking with officials at other area high schools and the Missouri State High School Activities Association, as well as Hsueh's father.
