Bone Marrow Donor Drive Set for Four Brothers Saturday

Four Murry Brothers in desperate need of donations to stay alive.

The Murry family of Frontenac is desperately seeking bone marrow donors. All four of their boys have contracted a very rare blood disease Diamond Blackfan Anemia. All four brothers Sean 21, Patrick 17, Danny 10 and Timmy, 8 need transplants to stay alive and Sean is in dire need of a donor right now.

All it takes to be on the National Bone Marrow Registry is a swab inside the cheek. Those with matching DNA's will have blood drawn from their arm or a needle draw from their hip. It may cause a little soreness, but that donation definitely can save a life.

The next drive is this Saturday, April 28, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Ladue Horton Watkins High School, 1201 S. Warson Rd. A free swab kit can be mailed to anyone unable to attend.

To learn more about the boys' plight, go to the family website.

It is actually a DNA typing- not blood- only making the correction as many people think if they are unable to donate blood that they won't be able to donate bone marrow and that is usually NOT the case!!

Sounds like a great opportunity to help someone! I hope there is a huge turn-out.
