St. Joseph's Academy Students Earn Variety of Academic Honors
Two teams of St. Joe students placed at Ecybermission, an Army-sponsored National Science and Engineering competition for 5th – 9th graders.
The team comprised of Hallie Cain, Ashley Powers, and Megan Brightfield won first place in Missouri. Each student will receive $500. A second team, comprised of Ali Bertelsman, Elisabeth Loe, Emily Ferguson and Annie de Penaloza, was awarded 2nd place in Missouri. Each will receive $250. Science teacher Miss Carrie Westphal was the team advisor.
The Sunflower team, comprised of St. Joe sophomores Ciara Lenzer, Ashley Taylor and Ali Wagner won first place in the digital media category at the Missouri Botanical Garden Power of Plants Competition. Science teacher Mrs. Katie Lodes was the team advisor.
27 students will be representing St. Joe at the Greater St. Louis Science Fair on May 1.

Carolyn Heger, junior and co-captain of St. Joe’s Varsity A Scholar Bowl Team, was a medalist for individual points in the Private League Scholar Bowl. 33 girls in total competed on this year’s Scholar Bowl Team for St. Joe.
